July 9th - Thursday

So I just had this long post typed and then I lost it when I was trying to get access to my photos! So frustrating!

I worked Mon, Tues, and Weds of this week and was going to try to post a little something each day but working 12 hour nights can be brutal sometimes and really doesn't leave me time for anything other than work, sleep, and get ready to do it all again. So much for blogging on the days that I work.

I love what I do and I really care for my patients and their babies. I get to meet some really neat people and it's very rewarding to get to be a part of bringing in a new life - even though my part is very small. I'm very fortunate to do what I do. I need to remember that. And keep reminding myself of that. I tend to let myself get down based on the actions of others. Which is really not fair to myself, because I can't and don't want to have control over others. I only have control over myself and how I choose to react to certain situations. The politics of our unit sometimes gets the best of me. And other people are not always kind. I'm working on keeping myself tough and not letting dumb things get the better of me. Thank goodness I have 7 days off now!!

And I was so in need of a run when I woke up!! I haven't looked to see actually when I was at the trail last, but it feels like a long long time. And after working 3 nights, I needed some stress release and to get my heart rate going. And it was what I needed! It was pretty warm and there were a lot of mosquitos, but I doused myself in bug spray and it felt good to sweat some of that tension out. And I had a nice endorphin rush when I was done. I don't know why I don't get that very much anymore. But maybe because I had a little break from running, I had that afterwards tonight.

I was starving later, and my husband was too, so we picked up Arby's. Not the healthiest choice but it was late and I didn't even want to make anything so that was that. :)

Here are some photos I took after my run:

July 3rd, 2015 - 4th of July Eve

Not very eventful today, which is nice sometimes! I have been working on painting our back door with chalk paint and I finished the painting part of the door and just need to add polycrylic. It should be finished tomorrow.
I did some cleaning, using the all purpose cleaner I made up using lemon essential oil by Doterra and I really like it! It's good for windows too. :)

We ended the day with some beers and sitting out on the back deck.

This evening, I am protecting my dogs from the scary fireworks noises. I bet tomorrow evening is much much worse. They are so scared!!

(This was the post I was trying to add pictures to when my other laptop crashed!)

July 5th, 2015

Well I was writing a post on July 3rd, in the evening, just writing about my day and was finished with my post and wanted to upload a photo. Suddenly my computer started acting funny so I tried to restart it and low and behold - it never started again. It would turn on, and you could hear the fan running, but there was just a blank screen. I was so incredibly sad and also lost with a laptop to use! Mostly sad because I don't know if any of the photos can be retrieved or not.

I did purchase a new laptop yesterday and also purchased a service from geek squad at Best Buy to hopefully retrieve the photos and documents and transfer them to my new laptop.

A couple of things I have discovered with this new computer.....1. I hate Windows 8. Can't figure it out and it's so annoying. 2. I can't figure out how to post pictures to this blog from my google drive. Amd it wont let me download photos from the google drive to the laptop. Hopefully I will figure this out soon! Otherwise I will be posting from my ipad a lot.

We had a fun 4th! Just stayed in and grilled, drank some wine and beer, and had a nice festive night! We didn't watch fireworks last night but will go instead to our local carnival that comes next weekend. They always have the best fireworks!

I'm starting to figure things out! :)

Back outside and Running July 3rd

Well my back and leg pain is gone at last and I went out for a run/walk this afternoon. It was such a nice day! Not too warm and kind of breezy, it was so nice! I'm so thankful that my leg pain is gone. I have to make sure to stretch tonight to keep those muscles from tightening up and causing that again. That was no fun! And I so missed being out on my trail and getting my cardio in. I don't feel good if I'm not getting some activity in!
Tomorrow I am going to do a hiit workout and maybe run or just walk. We'll see what I decide when I wake up. ;)

I also put in another essential oil order tonight. I'm going to try terrashield for insect control (I hate Mosquitos!), clary sage, clove, lemongrass, Rosemary, and eucalyptus. And I received my glass spray bottle via fed ex today that I bought on Amazon and I am going to mix up a cleaning spray using lemon oil. I can't wait to try it!!

July 1st pm

We skipped Zoo Brew tonight and decided to go to El Rodeo Mexican restaurant instead. Which was a good thing because my leg is not really any better and I don't think I would have done very well, trying to walk all over the zoo in pain. Another Wednesday, hopefully!

I'm hoping to feel better because I would like to run tomorrow. At least do a Run/walk, which is better than nothing.

I've been using some of my essential oils and I do really think that they have helped!

July 1st, 2015

Wow, I've really neglected you blog! I so enjoyed writing bits and pieces of my day for the short time I was doing it - I don't know why I stopped.

I am currently trying to work out a bout of sciatic nerve pain in my left leg. I am not going to run today, but if I'm feeling it tomorrow, I will try it. I injured myself last year (I don't know exactly what I did, because I did not go to the doctor) but it felt to me like a ligament or tendon strain in my left knee. The pain was not in the actual joint, and it wasn't even all that bad of pain. It was more like something was wanting to slip out of place. It's really hard to explain.

I did resort to wearing KT Tape on my knee - I watched their YouTube video that demonstrated applying it for knee pain and it really helped! I thought taking a lot of time off over the winter would heal whatever was wrong, but it still flares up.
So I'm limiting myself to 3 miles and no more. I feel like I hurt myself by increasing my mileage to quickly and at the same time I was trying to increase my speed. That wasn't a good idea for me.
I need to come to the realization that I'm not a spring chicken anymore. ;)

Tonight we are going to go to Zoo Brew, an event the Blank Park Zoo hold every Wednesday in June, July, and August. It's a 21 and older event when you can drink alcohol and visit the zoo animals. We went last year and had fun. I'm hoping for good weather, and that it's not too hot!

Happy Wednesday!
